General Description
Client is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Cloud Operations Engineer.  Our award-winning Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) solution is a SaaS offering hosted in Microsoft Azure, and we are seeking an experienced engineer to advance the architecture and deployment of our cloud applications.  The Cloud Operations Engineer is an integral part of our engineering team with a focus on maintaining a secure, highly scalable, and highly available infrastructure.  In this role, you’ll work closely with the engineering team to deploy and operate our systems, streamline processes through automation, monitor operations, and troubleshoot issues.  This position requires a strong technical background, forward thinking, a collaborative nature, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and administer our production SaaS environment.
  • Ensure our software is delivered to customers in an environment that is secure, scalable, and highly available.
  • Work closely with the software engineering team to understand our architecture, new features, provision resources, and design/implement deployment automation for software in development, test, and production environments (including concepts like CI/CD, infrastructure as code, etc.).
  • Database administration for production databases, including backup/restore, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot production environments.Provide afterhours support when necessary.
  • Provide technical expertise in several disciplines including IT security, domain/network administration, database, software deployment, etc.
  • Review, refine, and exercise our Business Continuity Plan.
  • Remain current with technology and DevOps best practices.
  • Actively participate in our culture of continuous improvement.
  • 8+ years relevant IT experience, including management and deployment of Software as a Service (SaaS).
  • 5+ years deploying and operating production grade software.
  • A strong background with Microsoft technology including Windows, SQL Server, IIS, and Active Directory.
  • A strong background in Windows Administration.  Linux Administration a plus.
  • 2+ years with Microsoft Azure, with a strong understanding of PaaS offerings.
  • Excellent programing/scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell, Python, C#, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Knowledge and expertise with IT/DevOps best practices in security, HA, DR.
  • A strong understanding of database administration, MS SQL Server, and proficiency in with SQL.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A results-oriented self-starter, with a strong attention to detail.
  • BS or MS degree in a Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture.
  • Experience with VSTS build/release functionality.
  • Knowledge or experience with other cloud platforms is a plus.
  • Experience in the healthcare IT industry a plus.
